It began as a single knife, the Shu Ken Onion Chef's Knife. But our customers demanded more. So we've expanded the series to include include all of the most wanted styles. This Shun Knife by Kershaw is designed by Ken Onion, one of the worlds top knife designers. The Shun Ken Onion series features the clad VG-10 blade made famous in our Shun line. But then the handsome, stick-resistant blade is combined with Ken Onion's signature ergonomic handle design and the unique blade sweep found only in a Ken Onion knife. This patent pending design features a special angled curved bolster and specially shaped handle that fits perfectly in the hand, releasing all tension in your arm. The extra curve on the blade allows for an easier flowing motion across the cutting board. Combine all of this with the sharpest Japanese edge available, and you have perfection.

An excellent starter set for the aspiring chef, this set consists of four knives, a pair of shears, honing steel, and a handsome bamboo storage block. Each knife combines Shun technology with the ergonomically curved Pakkawood handle designed by custom-knife designer, Ken Onion, to reduce fatigue. A razor-sharp work of art, a Shun knife turns everyday kitchen tasks, such as sandwich making and chopping onions, into a pleasurable experience, and tackles trickier cuisine demands with aplomb. The knives included in the set are a 3-inch paring, 5-inch utility, 8-inch chef's, and 9-inch bread. Designed to accommodate the Ken Onion bolster, the bamboo block contains 10 slots, which means more knives can be added.

Shun knives, made in Japan by KAI (Kershaw Cutlery), are quite possibly the sharpest knives on the market. A Shun edge, formed to an acute 16-degree angle, won't bend or waver due to the hardness of the VG-10 steel core used in its construction. Clad with 32 layers of high-carbon stainless steel (16 on each side), the blade resists rusting and maintain its razor edge for a considerable time. This knife block set carries a useful assortment of standard knives for outfitting a kitchen. The set includes an 8-inch chef’s knife, a 5-inch serrated utility knife, a 4-inch paring knife, and a 2-1/2-inch peeling knife, as well as a sharpening steel and a pair of shears. All components fit within an 11-slot hardwood block, which offers four extra slots for future knife acquisitions.

Part of Henckels’s Twin Signature of knives, the cutlery in this set have high-carbon, stainless-steel blades that have been stamped from one piece of metal. The edge is cut by laser for a more consistent angle on the blade and hand-honed for sharpness. Blades have also undergone Henckels’s Friodur ice-hardening process, which further strengthens them and protects them from discoloration. The ergonomically designed traditional-style polymer handles are securely fastened to the balanced full tangs with three rivets. Handles seamlessly encase the tangs on these knives so no food particles can ever become trapped in a gap.
